Extra help to pay for your medications

If you have limited income, you may be eligible for Extra Help from Medicare to pay for prescription medicine. This help is called Low Income Subsidy (LIS).

The AmeriHealth Caritas VIP Care (HMO D-SNP) premium includes coverage for both medical services and prescription drugs.

If you aren't getting Extra Help, you can see if you qualify by calling:

• Your state Medicaid office.
• Call AmeriHealth Caritas VIP Care at 1-833-433-3767 (TTY 711). October 1 – March 31: 8 a.m. - 8 p.m., seven days a week and April 1 – September 30: 8 a.m. - 8 p.m., Monday through Friday. The call is free.
• The Social Security Administration at 1-800-772-1213 (TTY 1-800-325-0778) between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m., Monday through Friday. You can use Social Security's automated telephone services to get recorded information and conduct some business 24 hours a day.

State pharmaceutical assistance programs

A state pharmaceutical assistance program (SPAP) provides state-funded prescription drug assistance to people who need help paying for their monthly prescription drug plan premiums, deductibles, copays, and coinsurance. For most programs, members must meet specific income guidelines and additional requirements that vary by state.
